Move With Intention recently facilitated a professional development training for faculty and staff at Elk Lake School District focused on mental fitness, emotional fitness, attention, stress management, and intentional living.

Led by Lacey Cook and Iván Quintero of Move With Intention, the experiential training gave participants practical tools they could immediately apply in the classroom, workplace, and everyday life.

Throughout the session, participants explored how attention influences what we notice and how we respond. As well as how past experiences can continue to affect our present state when we repeatedly carry or replay them, and how individuals can become more intentional about accessing calm, confidence, resourcefulness, and other useful states when facing pressure.

As the community moves into the final months of the year, Move With Intention hopes the message reaches beyond the school walls.

Busy schedules, changing seasons, work demands, family responsibilities, and everyday pressures can make it easy to move through life reacting rather than intentionally responding. Taking even a few minutes to regulate stress, redirect attention, move the body, breathe, create perspective, or reconnect with what matters can help people take better care of their mental, emotional, and physical well-being.

The goal is not to eliminate every stressful situation. It is to build the tools and awareness to navigate those situations with greater intention so you can use stress as fuel instead of letting stress use you.

Move With Intention encourages members of the community to ask themselves as the year continues: What am I giving my attention to? What am I carrying that I no longer need to carry in the same way? And what state do I want to bring into the next moment? Small intentional choices, practiced consistently, can create meaningful changes in how we work, communicate, connect, and experience everyday life.
